Since most of you have already played Quake I am not going to comment on the game, but instead the user experience itself.

The developers of Quake iPhone did a fantastic job of porting this classic PC game to the iPhone. The game has a nice frame rate even on the original iPhone. The controls are configured really well (for a touch screen) and don’t obstruct the player’s view.

Quake iPhone is the best port of Quake to a mobile device I have ever seen. Previous Quake ports to Pocket PC for example were buggy and not full functioned. Quake iPhone even allows multiplayer action via wifi with other iPhones and “real” computers. The lack of a keyboard gave my PC competitors a big advantage, but it was awesome to be able to play them.

Quake iPhone is a great port of the original game. If you want to check it out, you can download Quake iPhone on Cydia or Rock. Since this is a jailbroken only app, you won’t find it in the Apple app store.
